On Tuesday night at the Santiago Bernabeu, Kevin De Bruyne’s exquisite volley gave Manchester City a 1-1 draw against the tournament’s defending champion, Real Madrid.

Thibaut Courtois had a solid first half as he twice stopped Erling Haaland, De Bruyne, and Rodri. After a strong run by left back Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Jr. scored Real Madrid’s only goal of the game with a tremendous 25-yard strike that beat Ederson and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break.

Ilkay Gundogan set up Kevin De Bruyne superbly in the second half as Manchester City upped their game, with the Belgian sending a tremendous volley from outside the box to bring City back level. Bernado Silva appeared to have controlled the ball from outside the field of play during the goal’s development, which incensed Real Madrid supporters led by Ancellotti.

In the final minutes, Aurelien Tchouameni had a shot that Ederson spectacularly blocked, keeping the score equal.
