The 2018 400 Meters Commonwealth champion, Isaac Makwala, confirmed his participation in the upcoming Kip Keino Classic slated for May 13.

Makwala who finished third in the 200 meters event of last year’s edition will be bracing to better his podium finish the second time of asking. He finished behind winner Aaron Brown (20.05) and Kyree King (20.18).

The 37-year-old Botswana sprint legend has had a lot of success in his athletic career: He is a double 400 meters African champion (2012 and 2014), bronze medal in the 4x400m relay at the Tokyo Olympic Games, and a silver at the 2017 World Relays Championship.

“My preparations have been going on well and so on May 13 I will be ready for the Nairobi challenge,” Makwala said.

Also, in attendance at the upcoming Kip Keino Classic is the 100 meters Queen, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce after she confirmed her participation for the second time- she is the 100 meters title holder at the event.

“I will be in Nairobi on May 13 for the Kip Keino Classic, and I’ll be racing over the 100m, Last year was awesome! Fantastic! The stadium was filled with so much excitement, noise, crowds, and music, and it was so much fun.” She said.
