Ja Morant (12) scores against the Lakers

The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 121-109 in their first game without injured LeBron James on Wednesday, March 1.

Anthony Davis scored a team-high 28 points for the lakers in the loss and also grabbed 18 rebounds and five blocks. Lonnie Walver IV scored another 21 points but could not prevent the loss.

For the Memphis side, star point guard Ja Morant recorded a triple-double with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in 39 minutes of action. Desmone Bane scored 16 points while Jaren Jackson Jr. scored another 16 points and had four blocks, including a rim protector against Lakers forward Antony Davis.

The Lakers lost their first game since the all-star break and their first without Lebron James, who is expected to miss two weeks after injuring his ankle. The Lakers dropped to 12th place with a record of 29-33, while the Grizzlies remained in second place with a 37-23 record in the Western Conference standings.
