Manchester United ended a three-game winless streak in the Premier League on Wednesday as they defeated Brentford 1-0 at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag was able to exact revenge against the Bees for the humiliating loss they suffered in August thanks to Marcus Rashford’s game-winning goal in the first half, but they were dealt a blow when Luke Shaw was subbed out after 36 minutes due to injury.
The home team made a lively and fast-paced entrance, seeking to recover from their weekend loss to Newcastle. David de Gea gifted the ball away and an ultimate Ivan Toney header missed the goal which served as Brentford’s only half-chance of the first 45 minutes.
With the win, Manchester United leapfrogged Spurs into the top four with a game less played.
