On Tuesday evening, AC Milan defeated Napoli 2-1 on aggregate to secure their spot in the semifinals of the Champions League.
Napoli got out to a strong start, but Mario Rui’s trip over Rafael Leao cost them a penalty. Giroud moved to take the shot, but Alex Meret saved the shot by parrying it away from danger. Napoli then suffered injuries to Matteo Politano and Mario Rui.
Milan broke the deadlock two minutes before halftime when Leao finished with a brilliant run by laying the ball home for Giroud to score and make it a 2-0 aggregate score.
In the second half, Napoli were handed a lifeline when they received a penalty, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia saw his effort pushed away by Maignan. In the added minute of the game, Victor Osimhen headed home to level the score and tie the game, but it was too late as AC Milan went on to win the tie.
Ac Milan will either face Inter Milan or Benfica in the semifinals.
