Valentin Castellanos, a striker for Girona, scored four goals as they thrashed defending La Liga champion Real Madrid 4-2 on Tuesday evening.

Early on, Castellanos scored by neatly completing a counterattack with a header. Shortly after, the on loan striker doubled his team’s lead by nutmegging backup goalkeeper Andri Lunin while being pressed by two Madrid players. Before the break, Vinicius Junior restored parity by pulling one back for the visitors.

In the second half, Castellanos added two more goals, shocking Real Madrid. For the first time in this century, the team gave up four goal to a player in the same game. Lucas Vasquez scored the second for Real Madrid, but it was just too late.

Despite having played one extra game, Real Madrid is 11 points behind Barcelona in the standings. In two weeks, the opening leg of their Champions League semifinal matchup against Manchester City will take place.
