If there is an event that I have banked Kenyans to make a podium sweep in the ongoing World Athletics Championships, it has to be the 3000 meters women’s Steeplechase.

Kenya is fortunate to have a trio of generational talents; The World record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, The Commonwealth champion Jackline Chepkoech, and the reigning world junior champion Faith Cherotich.

This trio carries huge hopes of making to the podium finish barring they will make it to the finals. The trio made it to the semis after qualifying from their heats in an emphatic fashion.

The most impressive of the lot was the reigning Commonwealth champion who slid her way into the semis in a calm and emphatic way.

However, the trio will be wary of the likes of Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi, Ethiopian Sembo Almayeu, and Uganda’s Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai.
