2023 London Women’s Marathon Champion Sifan Hassan has expressed her respect and adoration towards Faith Kipyegon.
Faith Kipyegon is one of the greatest female athletes of all time. This year she has dropped everyone’s jaws after obliterating three World records.
During her 2023 season opener in the Diamond League Meeting in Florence on July 2, she broke the 1500m world record. She then went for the Meeting in Paris and set the 5000m world record before setting the mile world record at the just-concluded Diamond League Meeting in Monaco.
In an interview with Athletics Weekly, Hassan could not hide her sentiments towards Kipyegon.
“She is amazing and she inspires me to run faster. I have such great respect for her and I think it’s amazing. Faith is showing a lot of younger athletes and myself that it is possible to break more world records. I thought she’d break the world record, but the way that she did it was amazing. Congratulations and I’ll see you again,” she revealed.
Additionally, she noted that she was going to participate in the 5,000 and 10, 000 meters and not the marathon in the World Championships.
