Arsenal continued their impressive form after beating Brentford 2-0 at home.

In a heavily rotated Arsenal side, Arteta opted to rest some of his key players in the busy December schedule. Mikel Merino opened the scoring for Arsenal after meeting Ben White’s cross early on. He is now the club’s top scorer in all competitions. Kelleher then stood strong to deny Noni Madueke from close range. Brentford had a chance through Schade, who saw his header pushed into the crossbar by David Raya. Henry made a tackle to deny Madueke from scoring and keep the score at 1-0.

After the restart, Arteta’s side kept on piling on the pressure, and Declan Rice’s effort from outside the box was pushed away by Kelleher, but Mikel Merino’s rebound went off target. Saka then finished off the game cleanly after his hit made its way past Kelleher to put them 5 points clear in the title race.

In other games, Leeds shocked Chelsea with a 3-1 win, while Liverpool drew 1-1 with Sunderland as Aston Villa beat Brighton 4-3.
