Manchester United suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Leeds United on Monday evening.

The visitors started the game strong as Calvert Lewin’s effort was met by the legs of Lammens. The pressure continued as unmarked Noah Okafor met Bogles’ delivery and slotted it into the net. Diallo had a chance on the other hand, but his effort went straight into Karl Darlow’s hands. Minutes later Diallo had another chance, but his curling effort went wide. Leeds United then got the second goal as Okaafor had his brace at Old Trafford.

In the second half, United hit a major setback when Lisandro Martinez was sent off for pulling Calvert Lewin’s hair. Casemiro then pulled one back for United after meeting Bruno Fernandes’ cross to pile pressure on Leeds’ defence. Minutes later, Benjamin Sesko’s header was brilliantly saved by Darlow as United kept on pushing for a leveller. Calvert Lewin had the chance to ice the game for Leeds, but his header went straight to Lammens.

Speaking after the game, Michael Carrick insisted sending Martinez off was a wrong decision “You can see that is two games in a row we’ve had those decisions go against us. It’s shocking to send off Licha. Shocking. One of the worst decisions I have ever seen. ” he said.
