Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte has opened up about Argentina’s style of play ahead of Sunday’s final.
The match between England and Argentina was marked by a lot of physicality and fouls, which the referee waved off. Enzo Fernandez early on tackled Anderson but was not cautioned. Jude Bellingham was also guilty of a rough challenge on De Paul, which went unnoticed. The whole game saw different challenges, and both teams had several players booked by the referee.
However, speaking ahead of the final, Laporte was not happy with Argentina’s style of play, “especially with Argentina. They’re a team that likes to leave a mark on their opponents. That sort of thing shouldn’t be allowed in football—particularly in major competitions—because it can unsettle you and make you angry,” he said.
Spain coach De La Fuente said it will be a great final. “I think it is going to be an amazing final; each team will try and take the game to their own side. I believe both Spain and Argentina will have a game plan where talent and good football will rule over everything else,” he said.
