Chelsea’s run in the Champions League is over for another year as the Blues were eliminated by Real Madrid in the quarterfinals on Tuesday after losing 2-0 (4-0 on aggregate) at Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard’s team made a valiant effort despite being down 2-0 from the first leg and missing several significant opportunities in the early half through N’Golo Kante and Marc Cucurella. Early in the second half, Kante squandered yet another excellent opportunity.
Rodrygo delivered a sucker punch, firing in from close range after initiating a counterattack himself before hitting his second of the night after a wonderful move by Real Madrid.
Real Madrid will face either Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the semifinals.
