Manchester City defeated arch rivals Manchester United 3-0 in the Manchester derby played at Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side went into the game having lost back-to-back Premier League games. Erling Haaland had the very first chance after a lovely play between O’Reilly and Reijnders, but his shot went wide. The home side kept on applying pressure, but United’s defence stood strong. Benjamin Sesko made his first Premier League start, and his shot outside the box was easily saved by Donnarumma, who made his Premier League debut. Phil Foden then opened the scoring for City after lovely footwork by Jeremy Doku.

In the second half, United kept on pushing for an equaliser as Bryan Mbeumo saw his effort sail high off the post. Erling Haaland then doubled the score for City after a lovely pass by Doku, and the Norwegian chipped well. Bryan Mbeumo almost pulled one back for United immediately after, but Donnarumma stood strong to deny him. Erling Haaland then added his second of the game after being set free by Bernardo Silva.

Speaking after the game, Ruben Amorim insisted he won’t change his ideas. “I will do everything I can for Man United. This is my message to the fans. I’m suffering more than them. I won’t change my philosophy. If they [INEOS] want it changed, you change the man.”He said.
