Prior to the concluded World Athletics Championships, if there was ever any high hopes bestowed on a specific player, then it has to be on the Commonwealth 100 meters champion- Ferdinand Omanyala.
With his build up towards the Championships at a really high level, it was safe to say that Omanyala was going to at least clinch a medal.
However, the moment of truth came, and Omanyala was unable to live up to the bill by finishing seventh.
This took a toll on the Kenyan sprinter mentally which made him withdraw from social media.
His coach, Duncan Ayiemba had this to say via Daily Nation Sports;
“He had high hopes of a medal in Budapest. Every Kenyan had high hopes and everyone supported him.
“However, everything did not go as planned and that affected his mentality.” He said.
