Chelsea’s poor form continued as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Brighton in the Premier League.

In a much-rotated Chelsea side,Conor Gallagher’s shot took an appalling deflection and looped over Robert Sanchez to give the hosts the lead against the flow of play. After falling behind, Brighton continued to attack, forcing fantastic saves from Kepa Arrizabalaga from both Kaoru Mitoma and Ferguson until Danny Welbeck’s header finally broke Chelsea’s brief resistance.

In the second half, Brighton got the winner when Enciso took aim from a full 25 yards away with 20 minutes still to play, smashing home a fantastic winner. Since Lampard’s comeback, Chelsea has suffered three losses in a row and is currently in 11th place.

They next host Real Madrid in the Champions League’s second leg.
