The 2021 World U-20 800 meters champion, Emmanuel Wanyonyi, has confirmed he is going to use the upcoming Kip Keino Classic Continental Gold tour to set himself sharp and ready for the World Championships.

The World Championships will be held in August in Budapest, Hungary.

In what will be the third edition of Kip Keino Classic more than 1000 participants are expected to grace the event.

“I’m currently practicing for the Kip Keino Classic in Kapsabet at the 2-Running Club training camp, I’m currently concentrating all my energies on training for the Kip Keino Classic. I’ll be using the competition to get ready for the Budapest World Athletics Championships next year,” Wanyonyi said.

Wanyonyi made his debut at the senior World Championships last year at Oregon- but only managed a fourth finish after clocking (1:44.54). He outlined how the experience was a learning curve for him.

“It was lack of experience that cost me the victory. It was my first World Championships and I’m glad I came away with a lot of valuable lessons,” Wanyonyi added.
