Liverpool defeated Newcastle 3-2 in the Premier League match played at St James’ Park.

It was a tense game for both sides, especially due to Isak not training with Newcastle, as he wants to join Liverpool. Arne Slot’s side took the lead when Ryan Gravenberch’s low effort found the back of the net. Newcastle’s night became worse when Antony Gordon was sent off for a rough challenge.

After the halftime, striker Ekitike doubled the score as he netted his second Premier League goal. Newcastle then minutes later pulled one back through Bruno Guimarães.The home side kept on piling the pressure and eventually levelled through Osula in the 88th minute of the game. More drama was witnessed when teenager Ngumoha scored the winner late in the added time.

Speaking after the win, Arne Slot admitted his team did not play well. “We didn’t play well enough with the ball … We tried to force something … it never led to anything … I don’t think there was so much open play to be played … [The winner] was a great attack … For the first time we went from right to the middle to the left,” he said.
