Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has spoken on the team’s loss of form.
Arne’s side have dropped to second in the Premier League standings heading into the international break. They have seen their unbeaten run ended by Crystal Palace before losing to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. They suffered a defeat to Chelsea during the weekend courtesy of Estevao’s late goal at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the defeat to Chelsea, Van Djik insisted the season was going to be tough for them. “That doesn’t feel good,” said the Dutchman. “It was always going to be a tough, tough season. I’ve mentioned it — no one has said it was going to be plain sailing whatsoever. It’s always going to be ups and downs for multiple reasons that we shouldn’t forget.” It’s been a tough week, a tough ten days or something like that. But we know the only way to get out of this is sticking together and keeping working. Then we focus on the very big one at Anfield.” He said.
Liverpool have heavily invested in the summer and brought big names, including two record transfers in Premier League history in Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. Both are yet to score a goal in the Premier League.
