Gvardiol jumps high to score against Manchester City

Manchester City continued their run of poor form yesterday as they drew 1-1 away to RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Coming from a frustrating 1-1 draw away at Forest in the Premier League, Manchester City had to be at their best to win against Leipzig. Manchester City eventually took the lead when, in fine form, winger Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring in the 27th minute after Leipzig’s poor defending. Both Haaland and Grealish had their chances in the first half but could not add the second.

In the second half, a much improved Leipzig side were able to create numerous chances and eventually equalized when defender Josko Gvardiol rose above Ruben Dias to score from a corner and level the score at 1-1.

After the game, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was not happy with the team’s performance. “I didn’t want to come here and lose 4-3. “It will have to be more open in Manchester,” said Guardiola. “We don’t have the team to compete with them with a lot of transitions; they are better than us and they are faster than us, except for Kyle (Walker) and Erling (Haaland).” “The pace they have, we don’t have it.” Guardiola added.

The second leg will be played at Etihad Stadium, and the city will hope to have Kevin De Bruyne back after he missed the first leg through illness.
