Italian club Como have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign English defender Trevoh Chalobah in a deal worth a guaranteed €30 million.

The agreement, which is now in place between the two clubs, also includes up to €6 million in performance-related add-ons as well as a sell-on clause. The move comes after Chalobah gave his approval several weeks ago, having made it clear that he was interested in a move to Serie A.

Chalobah, a product of Chelsea’s academy, has spent his entire professional career under contract with the London club. After loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient, he established himself in Chelsea’s first team, featuring in domestic and European competitions while demonstrating his versatility by playing as a centre-back, right-back and defensive midfielder.

The transfer marks a new chapter in the 27-year-old’s career as he prepares for his first permanent move away from Chelsea. Como continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Serie A season, with Chalobah expected to add experience, composure and defensive quality to the Italian side
