Chelsea’s new signing, Christopher Nkunku, is set to miss an extended period on the sidelines.
The France international has undergone an operation that is set to keep him off football for up to 16 weeks. The former Leipzig winger was substituted in the first half of their 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund during the USA friendly last month.
Chelsea released a statement today confirming the news through their social media pages. “Nkunku has sustained a knee injury, which will rule the forward out for an extended period. The 25-year-old has undergone an operation and will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department.” He said.
Nkunku will be a big miss for Chelsea, who are set to open their Premier League campaign against Liverpool during the weekend.
