Chelsea forward Cole Palmer was yesterday named England Men’s Player of the Year.

Palmer made his international debut for the Three Lions in November last year against Malta at Wembley. He was part of the Euro 2024 England squad, and he scored in the match against Spain in the final, a 2-1 loss for Gareth Southgate’s team. Palmer won the PFA Young Player of the Year for 2023-2024, and he came second in the golden boot race just behind Erling Haaland. He also helped Chelsea reach the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

The former Manchester City player enjoyed a successful debut season at Chelsea, where he scored 25 goals in all competition under former manager Pochettino. He beat Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham as the public voted for the award.
He has since received congratulations messages from fans and teammates after the award. The women’s player of the year will be announced later this month.
