Gor Mahia’s chairman, Ambrose Rachier, has turned his focus to the KPL’s officiating woes, demanding urgent reforms at a make-or-break phase of the season.
Rachier positioned himself not just as a Green Army leader, but as a voice for the entire football ecosystem. “I’m not speaking as Gor Mahia chairman, but as a stakeholder in the game,” he declared. “Are we truly satisfied with the level of officiating in our league? There have been questionable decisions at a very critical point of the season. Justice must prevail not just for Gor Mahia, but for every team in the league. We are not asking for favors, only that the rules are applied fairly.”
His remarks come amid a string of controversial calls, including disputed penalties and red cards that have fueled post-match fury across the league. With title chases and relegation battles intensifying, consistent refereeing is crucial to maintain integrity.
Stakeholders have long called for VAR introduction or enhanced referee training, and Rachier’s intervention could spark wider debate ahead of the Football Kenya Federation’s next review.
As Kenya’s football giants gear up, Rachier’s dual appeals underscore a push for fan-first reforms and fair play—essentials for the KPL’s growth.
