According to numerous rumors, Damian Lillard has informed the Portland Trail Blazers that he would like to be traded.
Following the Trail Blazers’ selection of point guard Scoot Henderson as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Lillard has requested a trade. The Brooklyn Nets were rumored as the star’s other possible destination, but the Miami Heat are now leading the race to sign him. Additionally showing interest in Lillard are the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Clippers.
During his post-season exit interviews, Lillard informed the media he didn’t want to play with teenagers. Lillard requested that Portland trade its draft pick for an experienced star, but Portland allegedly rejected all offers. Lillard’s contract has four years and $216 million left to run. He will be 33 before the upcoming season.
Last season with the Blazers, he averaged 32.2 points and 7.3 assists per game, and he also shot 37.1 percent from the 3-point line, where he also had his career high of 71 points, making it one of his most productive seasons ever.
