Faith Kipyegon, a holder of numerous world records, has been named the SJAK Sports Personality Of The Month For June, just weeks after outstanding 1500 and 5000-meter performances.

Faith Kipyegon managed to defeat Beatrice Chebet who is Commonwealth Games Champion, Carl Tundo rally driver, Mc Rae Kimathi, Kakamega homeboyz striker Moses Shummah and Emma Nekesa the African Wrestler.

After winning the SJAK award, Faith Kipyegon expressed her feelings that, “I feel honored to be awarded with SJAK Sports personality of the month of June.

It was an incredible month in which I broke two world records. I want to thank everyone for the great support.” She said after receiving the award at the Global Sports Athletics Camp in Kaptagat today.

Now she has joined fellow athlete Angela Okutoyi as the second athlete to win the award thrice.

The 1500m world champion took home personalized trophy and LG dishwasher after winning the SJAK/LG June Award.

“It’s always good to see corporate entities acknowledge the good work of athletes. I’m thankful to LG for their effort to whip up the enthusiasm of sportsmen and women in the country.” Faith Kipyegon said.

LG East Africa corporate marketing and communication manager Moureen Kemunto said that, “The purpose of the award is to recognize exceptional Kenyan sportsmen and women for their achievements across different disciplines each month and also contribute to development of sports in the country.”
