Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted signing Cristiano Ronaldo was a wrong move.
Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus to rejoin his boyhood club, Manchester United, in September 2021.He scored twice in his return against Newcastle and went on to score 18 goals in the Premier League campaign that season.
Things, however, did not turn out the right way, and Solskjaer was relieved of his duties midway through the season. Ronaldo left the club after his interview, where he claimed the glazers did not care about the club.
In an interview with the Glazers, Solskjaer admitted Ronaldo’s signing was wrong.
“We were at the top of the league in September 2021; Cristiano Ronaldo came in, and Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho joined. And we’d gone strong by signing these players. It was about taking the next step to challenge for the title. And, unfortunately, it just didn’t work out. It was a decision that was very difficult to turn down, and I felt we had to take it, but it turned out wrong. It felt so right when he signed, and the fans felt that.” He said.
